A roof soft wash cleans the black streaks and algae growth on a roof with cleaning solution and a low pressure rinse. We never use high pressure on roofing. What the black streaks are
The dark streaks running down a shingle roof are algae feeding on the limestone filler in the shingles. Left alone, the growth holds moisture on the roof, spreads every wet season and makes the whole house read older from the street. It is also the first thing many HOAs in the Jacksonville area write letters about. How we clean a roof
- Walk around and inspection first, including gutters, valleys and the worst growth areas.
- Plants, shrubs and anything under the roof line wetted down and protected, and rinsed again at the end.
- Cleaning solution applied at low pressure across the roof surface. No pressure washer touches the roof.
- The solution does the work on the growth. Streaks fade as the treatment works, and rain finishes rinsing what the rinse pass leaves.

How long a roof clean lasts
